Pastoral Care &
Advocacy Ministry
St. Clement's Church has a
variety of spiritually healthful works for the sick, and the grieving. The common goal of these works is for lay
ministers to share Eucharist and Scripture with our parishioners
here in the Saratoga
area.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY TO THE
SICK
The EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY TO THE SICK is a parish program which
coordinates efforts to bring spiritual comfort and Communion to
our parishioners who are sick and/or homebound. There is a
training program involved, which is done at the parish office, as
well as some reading and a video tape viewing to be done at home.
After this training, you are commissioned by one of our priests
and then ready to begin your ministry.
HOSPITAL MINISTRY
The HOSPITAL MINISTRY is coordinated here at St. Clement's but
involves all the other parishes in the community.
Specially-trained lay Eucharistic Ministers bring daily comfort
and Communion to all Roman Catholic inpatients at Saratoga Care
Hospital. They visit the hospital with a "team mate" or "buddy",
on their specifically chosen day each month. The training for this
ministry is more extensive than ministering to a homebound person.
However, a great deal of support and encouragement is given, not
only by the trainors, but also from the fellow ministers.
COMMUNION SERVICE AND ROSARY
CIRCLE MINISTRY
The COMMUNION SERVICE AND ROSARY CIRCLE MINISTRY is coordinated
here but also involves the other parishes in the community.
Specially-trained lay Eucharistic Ministers conduct monthly
Communion Services at 14 senior housing facilities in the Saratoga
area. This involves about one and one-half hours a month of actual
preparatory and work time. Most of the Communion Services are
performed by a team of two ministers, but some prefer to work
alone.
PRAYER SHAWL
MINISTRY
This
is a very active and productive group of knitter, crocheters and
seamstresses. The truly unique aspect of their work is the
prayerfulness that unites them to serve. They meet usually twice a
month to pray and knit/crochet together. They make shawls, hats,
mittens, scarves, baptismal bibs or stole. They have several
ongoing local community projects as well as two international
projects.
The
Pastroal Care
Ministry also
coordinates a Bereavement Support Ministry and follow up for our
parishioners. We also are engaged Prison/Jail Ministry and monthly
Senior Socials.
An invitation is extended to you
to inquire about volunteering for one of the above-mentioned
works. Please call Kathleen Empie at the Parish Office 584-6122,
extension 13.
